Dr. Martina Muttke is a Swiss-based executive, board advisor, and accredited leadership coach with over 25 years of senior leadership and expatriate experience across global healthcare, biotech, and pharmaceutical organizations. A physician by training, she holds a doctorate in medicine from the University of Cologne and Italy, and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School.
Martina began her career in R&D and Medical Affairs at GSK before transitioning to the digital media sector with Bertelsmann Springer, where she led the development of scientific internet portals. She then spent 16 years at Bayer Pharma AG, serving in global and regional executive roles, including Vice President Medical Affairs for Latin America, based in Mexico City.
Her leadership journey continued at Shire International GmbH, a global biopharmaceutical company focused on rare diseases, where she led the International Medical Affairs team as Group Vice President. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President at Galderma, building and leading the global Medical Affairs function in dermatology.
Throughout her career, Martina has been a member of regional and global executive teams, responsible for functions spanning over 50 countries and leading teams of more than 500 scientifically trained professionals. She has guided organizations through complex transformations, mergers, and cultural shifts.
Today, through her company Muttke GmbH, Martina advises biotech and healthcare companies, mentors senior executives, and serves on boards. Her book, Build Better Brains – A Leader’s Journey to the World of Neuroscience, was published globally in October 2020 by Business Expert Press, New York.
Martina is also committed to social impact. She founded and chaired a Swiss not-for-profit crowdfunding platform for individuals needing medical assistance and currently supports a foundation for children and families affected by rare diseases.
